In the spring of 1996, Matt left a successful career as a buyer for a large local auto dealership group to continue his education. He joined Philbin as a part-time laborer to help cover expenses. After he finished his education, he joined Philbin full time, learning from each job he worked on. By 1999 he was able to take on his own projects, completing them on time and receiving complements from homeowners along the way. Later, in the winter of 2003 he decided to enter the office and learn the sales and design portion of the business. Working under Jack, he began to learn a different side of business. Once he had a little over a year behind him, Jack encouraged him to pursue N.A.R.I.’s Certified Remodeler designation and take the classes associated with it. Matt enrolled in the program in the beginning of 2005, participating in evening study group sessions for 12 weeks. He completed a comprehensive qualification matrix outlining his previous education and years of field experience in our industry. The program concluded on a Saturday with an 8 hour exam consisting of 585 questions, covering all aspects of modern construction. A few weeks later, Matt received news from NARI that he had passed. Matt Philbin, CR now works as a sales / project manager for Philbin Construction & Remodeling and looks forward to meeting his next client. |
